BEN BARBETTA THOMPSON (b. 1994, Sheffield, UK) is a Manchester-based multidisciplinary artist and art director with a practice focusing on process-based printmaking, with an output incorporating photography, painting and sculpture.

In pursuit of integrating photography and painting in a tense, lustful, and at times, volatile manner, Barbetta Thompson creates works exploring ceremony and deep-rooted human rituals.

Walking a tightrope between original photography and archival references from by-gone eras of the media onslaught, rebirthed through a heavy printmaking hand, purposefully done to shield fragments of himself in the works under a safety blanket of texture. Familiar enough to resonate, distorted enough to provoke.

Barbetta directs the art studio and independent publisher HARDEL.
