NARRATIVE: Johannes Seluga
NARRATIVE is an exhibition composed of four parts, over the course of a month, a weekly new work is presented. The four works vary in size, technique, palette, subject, and motif, yet they are unified by the viewer’s perception and ongoing storyline.
Seluga refrains from providing interpretative guidance beyond the titles, which are typically vaguely descriptive. This allows the viewers a non bias introspection. Furthermore, a single painting provokes more attention than a series of works, compelling the viewer to engage even deeper with their individual presentation.
Observing Seluga’s paintings involves a detailed exploration of shapes, colours, surfaces, and depths, allowing the mind to wander along the energetic brushstrokes. As you engage with the works, you tap in your own emotions and capacity to notice. Memories and interpretations arise and often prompt an urgent need to articulate a thought before it dissipates. However, what initially seems relevant may quickly be replaced by new insights. Seluga’s works are in constant motion, mirroring the dynamic nature of our Narrative as viewers.
